Garden Day at the Cradle of Forestry

May 6, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

We need volunteers to lend a hand in the gardens, or table for your farm/organization at our annual Garden Day event. Volunteers and tablers will receive free entrance to the Heritage Site on this day. Children under the age of 16 are free.

In the morning we will be prepping beds, planting and spreading straw in the heritage garden. You can relax in the afternoon with a meal from our Cafe’ or bring your own picnic. After lunch we will be in the backyard wildlife habitat doing debris pickup, invasive removal, etc. You can participate in either or both of these, enjoy a hike on one of the trails, exploring the exhibit hall, join a presentation about our meadow conversion, and watch the 28-minute “First in Forestry” film.

Regular visitor entrance is $5/adult, FREE for Cradle members or federal passholders.

For this event we ask that tablers support the garden day theme or are able to talk about permaculture and traditional gardening practices of western North Carolina. Please email Courtney at if you have any questions or are interested in participating.
