Gardening with native Plants with Nathan Buchanan

September 28, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

With the increased focused on pollinator conservation in recent years, gardening and landscaping with native plants is becoming a significant point of emphasis. But what is all the “buzz”; about? In this workshop, we’ll discuss the incredible ability of native plants to function in your garden. From providing habitat and food for wildlife in urban and suburban settings, to establishing plant communities in a wide range of garden/landscape settings, native plants can bring great possibilities to any garden. We’ll draw on the ideas of Doug Tallamy, E.O. Wilson, and voices on the cutting edge of landscape design to give you renewed energy and perspective for the outdoor spaces around your home, and give you some easy, practical tips for your garden.

$0 – 15 per person, sliding scale

Nathan Buchanan started Wildbud Natives in Madison County, NC in 2015 with a focus on growing perennials and woody shrubs native to the Southern Appalachians and southeast. As a Mitchell County native, Nathan’s love of native plants was born on a Frasir Fir farm in the valley below Roan Mountain- one of Earth’s true botanic treasures.
