High-Productivity Agro-Forestry and Silvopasture Systems

July 15, 2017 @ 1:30 pm - 7:00 pm

This workshop covers the theory and practice of incorporating beneficial trees into farm fields. These trees can be used as animal fodder, green manures, shade trees, windbreaks for crops (a practice called alley cropping), and also be crops themselves like fruit and nut bearing trees.

Learn how to measure a field, how to decide what to plant, how to develop a hypothetical design, and how to determine spacing. We will also cover where to obtain tree stock & livestock and cover fencing, rotational grazing, and more.

Participants will feel more confident about going home to plant trees to improve the small homestead or broad-scale farm.
