June 9 @ 1:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Treasured for their culinary, and even some medicinal contributions, allium crops such as garlic, onions, shallots, chives and leeks can provide gratifying yields, if their needs are met. This class provides the tools required to achieve such yields. Instructor Patryk Battle will lead the participants into a look at genetics, soils and soil preparation, timing, seeds as opposed to sets, seedling production, crop care, harvest, best storage varieties and preparation methods to ensure successful storage. We will also look at the great diversity of perennial alliums such as bunching onions, walking onions, potato onions and perennial leeks. Finally we will touch on alliums nutritional and culinary attributes and how to maximize these in your kitchen.
