“FreshAir” Cheesemaking: On the Path to Cultured Butter

November 7 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Carolina Curd presents “FreshAir” Cheesemaking – Butter, here we come! On the Path to Cultured Butter is a fascinating and jammed packed look at making sweet cream and cultured cream butter. On the path, we will learn to make Crème Chantilly (sweet whipped cream), Crème Fraîche, Mascarpone and real cultured buttermilk. We start off being a bit nerdy to learn the basic science behind butterfat and how to temper cream for making the most delicious, spreadable butter. Then, we dive right into learning how to make our own butter, including instruction on how to culture cream and salt butter. We also learn how to buy and store butter and how to mold butter to impress our friends and family! “FreshAir” Cheesemaking classes are being taught at a spacious, OUTSIDE location in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants will be required to adhere to Carolina Curd’s Program Participation Guidelines to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. (max participants: 4) Course Length: 3-4 hours
