Regional Agritourism Seminar

 Join Empowering Mountain Food Systems, ASAP, and other ag supporters for a free seminar for agritourism providers and partners! The seminar is free, but requires RSVP at

This workshop will:

  • Teach you how to use storytelling skills to market your best assets.
  • Encourage farmers to collaborate with local agencies to build effective branding.
  • Includes a catered lunch & a local agritourism farm visit to KT’s Orchard and Apiary in Canton @ 3:00 pm.

The focus is on bringing together agritourism operators and tourism leaders to identify and share the stories of WNC farms.

Morning Concurrent Sessions (9:00 – 12:00)

    1. Telling Your Story (for agritourism operators) with Dr. Carla Barbieri, Ann Savage, and Molly Nicholie
      Learn about the importance of telling your story as an agritourism operator. Be creative with your fellow operators and brainstorm all the resources you have to include in your story and discover what makes your story unique. 
    2. Identifying Opportunities to Feature Agritourism in Your Brand (for tourism and economic development leaders) with Dr. Whitney Knollenberg, Ann Savage, and Sarah Hart
      Learn more about agritourism and its potential to capture market share through excellent storytelling. Conduct a SWOT analysis and brainstorming activity to assess the assets you have to amplify storytelling among your destination’s agritourism partners. 

Networking Lunch (12:00 – 1:00) 

Afternoon Session (1:00 – 3:00): Aligning Agritourism Stories with Tourism Brands (all attendees) with Dr. Whitney Knollenberg, Dr. Carla Barbieri, and Ann Savage

Visit to KT’s Orchard and Apiary (3:00 – 4:00)
