Webinar: Providing Food and Nutrition Services During COVID-19 (Office of Head Start)

Food insecurity has worsened during the pandemic. The number of children in households struggling with food insecurity has more than tripled. As the pandemic continues, we encourage programs to take advantage of available flexibilities to ensure children’s nutritional needs are being met. Join us for a webinar on best practices to combat food insecurity during COVID-19. It will feature experts from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the National Center on Health, Behavioral Health, and Safety.

Topics for the webinar include:

– Impact of increased food insecurity during COVID-19
– Common barriers for remote meal service delivery
– An overview of child nutrition program benefits available during the COVID-19 pandemic
– Detailed guidance on how Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) policy flexibilities can be used to adapt meal service to new conditions

– An overview of Women, Infants and Children program benefits and operations during the COVID-19 pandemic
– Ways to utilize Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act and other funds to address issues related to meal and nutrition services
